The best staff for the best taxpayers.
Ray is not ashamed to admit he originally hails from the northern suburbs of Chicago. However, he considers himself a MN native as he left the shores of Lake Michigan more than twenty years ago. You may recognize him as a familiar face at ROR. He worked in the back-office and assisted clients for several years. Ray spent 25 years working in the software industry, most recently with Lawson Software, as director of product development, marketing and information technology. After a brief "Ray-tirement”, Ray is enjoying a second career at ROR as one of our tax professionals, working closely with Mike Cassidy and his clients. When he isn’t working, Ray can be found spending time with family and friends and his 4-legged adopted daughters, Tessa, Tivo & Taz!
Declaration of royal treatment ~ "I pledge to treat every client as a member of my extended family, making tax time a “family reunion”, while going above and beyond and making “getting the taxes done” as efficient, reliable, accurate and enjoyable as possible!”
George is our newest addition to the ROR family. He immigrated from Liberia, West Africa and studied both in Minnesota and Belgium where he earned a Masters in Management with an emphasis in Finance. He started his tax career with H & R Block in 2001. George worked as a tax accountant at US Bank for 12 years in the Trust Tax Services department and is joining us full-time. He will work very closely with Lee Roehl and his clients.
Declaration of royal treatment ~ "I pledge to ensure that your tax liability is minimized and any refund due is maximized within the framework of the tax laws!”
Matt was born and raised in the German founded city of New Ulm, Minnesota. He earned his AAS in Financial Accounting from Rasmussen College Mankato in the spring of 2008 and recently earned his BS in Accounting. Having worked in accounting and tax preparation since early 2008, Matt’s area of specialty has become tax and accounting for small to medium sized businesses. In the late 1990’s he owned and operated a small pizzeria, so he knows firsthand the challenges small business owners face. Matt has worked with businesses in a variety of industries from construction and manufacturing to restaurants, retail, and transportation. He has experience assisting clients with live IRS audits as well as responding to mailed notices.
Currently, Matt is only considering new clients who have business related tax and accounting needs. We recommend scheduling an initial “no fee introduction meeting” outside of tax season (May to December).
Declaration of royal treatment ~ "I pledge to provide clients with realistic answers to their tax situation and to give them the peace of mind that their tax returns are accurate and deliver the best possible outcome.”
After completing her Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Denise got her start in the tax world as a tax professional at H & R Block. Denise went on to complete her MBA in 2013, just before joining the ROR team in early 2014. She has continued with her tax education by completing the Special Enrollment Exams in 2016.
Previous to her work at ROR Denise was employed by one of their suppliers, TENENZ, Inc. (Tax and Accounting Supplies). At TENENZ Denise was the Accounting Manager with many hats. Last minute tax law and filing changes were always on her radar. She is no stranger to tax research either.
Before 16 years at TENENZ Denise owned and managed a preschool and daycare for 5 years, and spent nearly 10 years in Inventory Control with Best Buy Company as they grew from 7 local metro stores to over 230 stores across the nation. Very exciting stuff!
With a vast array of past experience and education including her new Enrolled Agent (EA) status, Denise is available to help you with your small business taxes, bookkeeping, and general questions. Just give her a call to set something up.
Declaration of royal treatment ~ "I pledge to not just prepare a tax return for you, but to also look for ways to help you manage your fiscal life to its fullest potential. My goal at tax time is to make your experience majestic!"
A farm kid from Elk Mound, Wisconsin, Mike’s arrival to the Twin Cities started a varied financial career, having now spanned 23 years for taxes and 18 years for financial services.
And Mike has definitely settled in. He’s been board president of the Minnesota AIDS Project, a founding board member and treasurer of Project 515, treasurer and event co-chair of DIVA|MN, rider and crew of the Heartland AIDS Rides, and chair of the American Express’ PRIDE Network. He’s always into something!
You might find him in the Gayborhood of Robbinsdale (yes, Robbinsdale), enjoying restaurants “too much” and relentlessly renovating he and his husband’s (Alan) home to maintain his status as honorary lesbian with many tools.
Speaking of tools, Mike brings many of them to ROR. As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® and Chartered Financial Consultant®, they include retirement and education planning, as well as individual tax planning and preparation. In fact, he’s also been named a Five Star Wealth Manager in Minneapolis St Paul Magazine for seven years running.
Declaration of royal treatment ~ "I pledge to not just prepare your taxes, but to look for opportunities in your situation that will make your life better. I will also do my best to take the pain out of getting your taxes done!”
This self-proclaimed Network Queen and Santa Claus wannabe started doing taxes at H&R Block in the mid-70’s. He taught school for 23 years with his BA & MA in Elementary Education. “First grade for the last 8 years was the best!” says Lee R.
His daughter Jen and his grandchildren Ani and Storm, are his pride and joy. “The Boys” – Baxter and Doulton are the bosses. They say “Jump” and Lee says “How high?”
He is passionate about making the world a better place, equal rights for everyone.
Dancing, cooking, Quorum and non-profits tend to keep him off the street. (thank goodness!)
Declaration of royal treatment ~ "I pledge to coordinate your activities to (1) help you pay the least amount of taxes possible (2) increase your net worth (3) connect you to the right people to fulfill your needs and ultimately (4) live well.”
Joan grew up in the far away kingdom of Michigan. She proudly sports her Wolverine Maize and Blue crest to show her loyalty. She and her husband have raised their 3 sons here in Minnesota.
She has experience in a tax accounting office, and now uses her knowledge to keep our office running smoothly during the busy tax season and creating a pleasant atmosphere for the financial planning clients during the rest of the year.
Declaration of royal treatment ~ "I promise to make sure you are treated quickly with utmost confidentiality and care. I will use all my creativity to make sure the details of your requests are taken care of in a timely fashion."
